Preface
Many friends may have a problem when using the Jetbrains series of software, that is, the Open Folder as PyCharm Project that appears when the mouse is right-clicked, and sometimes it is not checked during installation, and I want to add it later, or it feels useless later. I want to delete it, how do I do it?
Let me talk about why the author likes to use this small right-click menu. Because we open the pycharm software, the default is to open the last project used recently, then sometimes we temporarily intend to open other projects, do we have to open our pycharm first?
Then first wait for our project to load
After loading, the menu open to select the project we want to open
If the recent project is a bit big, the loading time may not be enough, so the author will prefer this feature Open Folder as PyCharm Project
The author checked it during installation. It was still useful a few days ago. It is also very fascinating. When I just opened the project, it was not in my right-click menu.
- Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shell
- The author added here first, but there is no corresponding menu item after right-clicking the menu

- The careful author discovers through exploration

and then return to the desktop, with
Specific steps
Open our registry manager and search
Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shell
Select the shell, right-click the new item, and name it, the author is Pycharm
The default value is modified to the text content of our right-click menu
Right-click on the new string in the right area. This is the icon whose value is the path of our pycharm.exe
Select the pycharm item and create a new item command
Modify the default value of command, the English "path of pycharm" "%V"
Example: "C:\Program Files (x86)\PyCharm 2020.2\bin\pycharm64.exe" "%V"
Both shells must be set up
Quickly open folder as project in Sublime Text from Windows Explorer

Visual Studio Code has this awesome feature that lets you open any directory that you are in as a project. This is so seamless that it has become a deal breaker for me with other text editors and IDEs.
VS Code excels in functionality but it lacks in the shear performance when it comes to handling extremely large files. This is where I always pick Sublime Text as my weapon of choice. I needed to find a way to open any directory as a project and be able to open any large file without having to deal with the choppiness of VS Code. This is how I got it done.
Note down this command
cmd /c “C:\Path_to_your_SublimeText3\subl.exe” .
This will open the current directory in sublime.
Make sure you have the Side Bar visible, or else it look like Sublime was launched as it is, without the directory.
You could also set the hot_exit setting in Sublime to false, as having that enabled opens up the last open directory in another window along with the current directory that it has opened. You probably don’t want that.
Next step is to make it easier to punch in that command. For this you can use a text substitution application of your choice. I use Beeftext for this. This is a really cool tool. Its a reliable, free, open source, privacy focused and I have been using this for a while now. What this does is, it lets you assign triggers and then fills some predefined text when that trigger is received.
For me the trigger is
“subl” and that expands to
“cmd /c “C:\Path_to_your_SublimeText3\subl.exe” .”
When I need to open a directory in Sublime Text. I hit “Ctrl + L” to go to the address bar, then hit subl, Enter.
Open folder as android studio project
How to add “Open folder as Android Studio project” to folders (in file explorer in windows) quick menu (right click).

Solution – 1
Open windows registry by pressing Window + r type regedit and enter
Run the registry editor
Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTDirectoryshell
Right click on shell create a new key and name it as you want to see the entry in context menu
then right click on the created file and create a new key and name it as command in lower case
Click command and on right side pane you will see a key named as default
Double click the default entry and enter the path of application exe file as the value.
You need enter a spacebar then %1 at the end of application path that you entered as a value of default value.
It worked for me.
Solution – 2
Just save this as a .cmd file and run. Be sure to change the path to your android studio installation path.
Right click on Windows folder and open with Visual Studio Code
I’m all about using Visual Studio Code for Node.js development. It is a lightweight code editor and runs on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. I enjoy it so much that I also use it for Node.js projects on the Raspberry Pi. To accomplish this, I create a Windows file share on the RasPi as described in my Beginner’s Guide to Installing Node.js on the Raspberry Pi and map a drive on my Windows system to the RasPi. I am then able to use VS Code to create my Node.js code and jump onto the RasPi to run the actual code.
Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled program… Today’s topic is aimed at Windows users who are using Visual Studio Code and want to be able to right click on a given folder and launch VS Code. We’re going to add a right click context menu item to “Open Folder as VS Code Project” since it saves time—and it’s more fun!
Major Edit : It turns out that when you install VS Code for Windows, you have an opportunity to add an “Open with Code” action to the Windows Explorer file context menu—if you don’t hastily sprint through the installation and take the defaults like I did the first time around. Take a deep breath and jog rather than scream through the installation. When you see the dialog box below, be sure to check the two checkboxes highlighted.

Ignore the rest of this post unless you don’t want to re-install VS Code or if you are curious for other contexts. It’s easier to simply re-install VS Code.
Let’s make it so. I am leveraging the excellent work of some of my friends on GitHub who created a Windows context menu item for Sublime Text 2/3.
First, create a file with a “.reg” extension. For example, vsCodeOpenFolder.reg .
You are then positioned to add these contents to the file:
Next, save the file.
Note : the above .reg file assumes that you installed VS Code in the default location—which will be the case for most people. Adjust accordingly if the Code.exe file is installed in a different folder.
Very nice – we are almost done. Double click on the vsCodeOpenFolder.reg file that you just created.
Windows UAC (User Account Control) will launch and ask you if you want to allow this app to make changes to your PC. Go ahead and click OK so you can merge the registry code contained in the file with the Windows Registry on your computer.
That’s all there is to it! You can now navigate to a folder through Windows Explorer, right click on either the folder icon or in the folder itself, and you will see an option to “Open Folder as VS Code Project”. As a bonus, you can right click on individual files and “Edit with VS Code” as well.
You can now smile at the fact that you’ll have a little more time each day to write amazing code in Node.js/JavaScript or any of the other languages available for use with VS Code.
